Feast of the Most Holy Rosary, October 7

The feast of the Holy Rosary recalls the best prayer to honor our heavenly mother. It was on the seventh of October 1571 when the Christians defeated the Turks at Lepanto. It is said that the Christians gained this victory through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin. In the Philippines, the feast is often celebrated on the first Sunday of October.
The Rosary is a prayer and a devotion to Marry. It is a way of meditating upon the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. It was started in the twelfth century and was said by the people who could not read the official prayers of the Church.
Saint Dominic and His Order of Preachers or Dominicans are credited with spreading the devotion for the rosary.
Traditionally, the month of October celebrates the Rosary.
